Nicole Rose
I don't know why I react as I do when my daughter shows wisdom superior to mine at times. I'm surprised. It's happened so many times that I know I shouldn't be. It's amazing how much I learn about myself by watching her and how much I grow by taking it all in. She is so very intuitive, intelligently funny and oh so honest in her take on things. When she sleeps, I look at her and wonder how this amazing being came to be in my life, what did I do right to deserve her. Yeah, she's not perfect and at times quite frustrating, being 13, but when I consider some of the tribulations a few of my friends go through with their children I count my blessings (and worry about what the future may hold). I enjoy her company so thoroughly and cherish the unexpected pearls of wisdom from her beautiful heart and mind.

The Porch

While dreaming about the eventuality of the ceasing of our Seattle rainy days I was pondering over what I actually would do when the sun comes out to stay (at least for a month or two). One of my loves is relaxing (read: defrosting) on the front porch with a good book in hand. My dear house is in dire need of painting and the porch has suffered just as much. At the moment, it is bare, worn and has spots of bird droppings because of the poorly placed bird feeder this spring. Looking for inspiration, I came across these lovely homes and fabulous decor ideas. I will post before and after photos once my little shack of a porch has been made over to the diva that she aspires to.

You Matter To Me

Every single person you ever will meet shares a common desire with you. They want to know... Do you SEE me? Do you HEAR me? Does what I say mean anything to you? Everybody wants to be heard. Let them know...'I see you. I hear you. What you say really matters to me.' You will be amazed how this comes back to you hundredfold.

Have a Wonderful Day!
We hear this phrase many times. It's heard so often that we sometimes don't take it's meaning to heart. Recently, I was privileged to hear a discourse on how to cope with the problems life throws at us. One sage advice that was considered was prayer and unburdening our heart and concerns along with meditating on our blessings. The illustration given was of a scale. One arm was lowered with difficulties and anxieties, then the beautiful and valuable things in our lives were enumerated. They far outweighed the things that disquieted us. By the time the list was complete, problems faded into the background, our hearts were lighter and peace reigned supreme. Today, count the blessings in your life, no matter how small. Know that you matter in someone's life. Make sure they know you feel the same about them. - Philippians 4:6,7
